Flat Top & Griddle Cleaning in Berks County. Guaranteed.
Flat tops and griddles need specialized care. Grease buildup on the cooking surface, grease trap overflow, and rust are common problems. We strip, clean, and re-season your flat top so it's non-stick and ready for your next cookout.
Your Blackstone Deserves Better Than a Scraper and Paper Towels
Flat top griddles changed backyard cooking forever. Smash burgers, hibachi-style fried rice, breakfast spreads that make your neighbors jealous — there's a reason Blackstones are everywhere in Berks County.
But here's the dirty truth about flat tops: they're grease machines. That beautiful cooking surface you seasoned so carefully when you first got it? After six months of cooking, it's buried under layers of polymerized grease, food residue, and discoloration that no amount of scraping will fix. The grease trap is probably overflowing. And that "patina" everyone talks about? There's a difference between a well-seasoned surface and a surface that's just... dirty.
We strip it, clean it, and re-season it from scratch. Your griddle comes out slicker and more non-stick than the day you unboxed it.
What We Do to Your Flat Top
Griddle cleaning is different from traditional grill cleaning. There are no burners to disassemble or grates to soak. It's all about the cooking surface, the grease management, and getting that seasoning right.
Every flat top cleaning includes:
- Cooking surface strip-down using professional-grade tools
- Rust spot treatment and removal (if present)
- Grease trough and drip tray full cleanout
- Burner inspection and cleaning
- Igniter testing
- Full multi-layer re-seasoning with flaxseed or avocado oil
- Exterior wipe-down and degreasing
- Grease cup replacement check
- Seasoning care tips so your new surface lasts
The re-seasoning alone is worth the price. We apply multiple thin layers of high-smoke-point oil, heating between each coat. The result is a dark, glassy, non-stick surface that food slides off of. It takes patience to do it right — 4-5 layers minimum — and most people don't have the patience to do it themselves.
The Rust Problem Nobody Talks About
Here's the thing about flat tops: they're bare steel. Unlike a porcelain-coated gas grill or a ceramic kamado, there's no protective coating between your cooking surface and the elements. The seasoning IS the protection.
When seasoning breaks down — from acidic foods, improper cleaning, or moisture exposure — bare steel is exposed. And bare steel rusts fast, especially in Pennsylvania's humid summers. We see Blackstones with rust spots all the time. Most of them are completely salvageable.
Our process removes surface rust, treats the affected areas, and rebuilds the seasoning layer from the ground up. If you've been afraid to use your griddle because of rust, don't throw it out. Call us first.
Why DIY Griddle "Cleaning" Falls Short
We know. YouTube is full of videos showing people scraping their Blackstone with a metal spatula and calling it clean. And sure, that removes the surface gunk. But it doesn't address:
- Grease absorbed into the seasoning layers — your cooking surface is literally saturated with old oil
- The grease trough — that channel around the edge is a grease highway, and it needs full degreasing
- Uneven seasoning — patches of thick buildup next to thin spots create uneven cooking and sticking
- The underside — grease drips down through the seams and builds up under the cooking surface and around the burners
A proper cleaning addresses all of it. You get a flat, even, properly seasoned surface that cooks like new.
Pricing
Flat top and griddle cleaning runs $249 - $329 depending on size (22" to 36" models). The $150 service fee covers our trip to your home and all supplies including re-seasoning oils.

FAQ — Flat Top & Griddle Cleaning
Will you strip my seasoning? I spent weeks building it up!
+
Yes, we strip the old seasoning — and that's a good thing. After months of cooking, your seasoning layer is a mix of polymerized oil, food residue, and burnt grease. It's uneven, it's sticky in spots, and it's not performing as well as fresh seasoning. We remove it all and apply a proper multi-layer seasoning that'll outperform what was there. Think of it as a factory reset for your griddle.
How do I prevent rust between cleanings?
+
After every cook, while the surface is still warm, scrape it clean, apply a thin layer of cooking oil, and spread it across the entire surface with a paper towel. If you're storing your griddle outside, invest in a fitted cover and consider a light oil application before covering. In Berks County winters, bring your griddle into a garage or shed if possible — the freeze-thaw cycle is rough on bare steel.
My Blackstone has white spots. What are those?
+
White or chalky spots on a griddle are usually mineral deposits from water, or spots where seasoning has flaked off and bare steel is oxidizing. They're not harmful, but they indicate your seasoning is compromised in those areas. We see this a lot on griddles that get rained on or cleaned with excess water. Our re-seasoning process covers and protects those spots.
Can you clean my Camp Chef, Pit Boss, or other brand griddle?
+
We clean every flat top griddle brand — Blackstone, Camp Chef, Pit Boss, Royal Gourmet, Cuisinart, you name it. The cleaning and re-seasoning process is the same regardless of brand. If it has a flat steel cooking surface, we can restore it.
How soon can I cook after you re-season my griddle?
+
Immediately. Our re-seasoning process fully cures each layer on-site. By the time we're done, your griddle is ready for smash burgers. We'll even show you the best way to maintain the new seasoning going forward.
